Daisy

Bellis Perenis

daiseys

The english daisy, the "day's eye" that opens with the sun rise and closes with the sun-set. It is associated with love and flirting (remember the "she loves me ... she loves me not poem?) and midsummer celebrations.

For medicinal purposes it was used in tea for diarrhea, coughs and colds. Crushed fresh leaves can be added to a poultice to heal wounds and sprains. Daisys were also hung around the house to drive out fleas.
